🔍 TikTok Launches Search Ad Campaigns
TikTok launches TikTok Search Ad Campaigns, an upgrade from their Search Ads Toggle feature last year.
This new feature allows advertisers to appear in search results for specific keywords.
David Kaufman, TikTok’s Global Head of Monetization Products and Solutions, shared that this new feature offers advertisers a new way to tap into TikTok users' search behaviors and is just the beginning when creating ads for search.
As more and more Gen Z users rely on the TikTok app as a search engine, this move makes sense.
TikTok reports that 57% of its users use its search functionality, and 23% of users search for something within 30 seconds of opening the app.
How do Search Ad Campaigns work?
For example, a drink brand could bid for terms like ‘soda taste test’ and ‘citrus drink’ to target audiences interested in their product and at different stages of the customer journey.
The search ad will show up alongside organic content like this 👇
When setting up the ad campaign, advertisers can specify whether their goal is traffic or conversions.
During TikTok’s testing, they discovered that advertisers who diversify their ad mix and run in-feed ads with search ads saw an average 20% increase in conversions.
Why this TikTok update is important:
TikTok search results pages already display ads, but this will give brands more control over how that content appears on the page.
Brands can be more strategic about what customized ad messaging to show for specific keywords to maximize impact.
The takeaway?
TikTok offering a search ad product gives brands a new way to reach active customers searching on the app.
This feature is now available in the U.S. and is being tested in other markets.
