Issue 573
Good morning,
Rumor has it TikTok is working hard on cloning its recommendations algorithm before the U.S. ban.
What this means: This could potentially result in a new version of the popular app that operates independently from its parent company, ByteDance, and circumvents U.S. concerns about data privacy and safety.
Here’s what you’ll find in today’s DTC:
🪙 Take a tour of Walmart Realm and see how the retailer used 3D ecommerce to disrupt the online shopping experience.

🪙 Walmart Realm: An Immersive 3D Ecommerce Experience
Now you can make your ecommerce experience more immersive and engaging than ever before with 3D ecommerce.
Walmart recently launched Walmart Realm, which walks an online shopper through multiple different online spaces inspired by social trends by Pinterest Predicts using 3D ecommerce.
The retailer created three make-believe worlds: an underwater experience with jelly aquatic creatures, ‘Go Chromatic’ a futuristic metallic environment set in outer space, and a Wild Wild West meets gothic glam landscape.
Online visitors who explore these virtual worlds can see 3D renderings of Walmart products that match these unique aesthetics, play games, and collect ‘Sparks’ (represented by the Walmart logo). Collect enough Sparks and you can unlock a discount code.
What’s 3D ecommerce?
Instead of using static images to show off your product assortment, 3D ecommerce uses three-dimensional digital models of products.
The benefit is shoppers can visualize what the product will look like in real life and interact with it online before making a purchase.
Pros and cons of using 3D ecommerce
Implementing 3D ecommerce can increase customer time spent on the page and also increase conversions.
😲 Shopify merchants who use 3D content see on average an increase in conversions by 94%.
However, including 3D can be costly and take up a lot of space, potentially slowing down your site speed.
Also, this technology is not suitable for all audiences. Consider whether your shoppers would be interested in using this technology or if it would be overwhelming or frustrating for the user who is used to a more traditional ecommerce site experience.
Since Walmart hopes to attract Gen Z and Gen Alpha with this new shopping experience, using 3D ecommerce makes sense since these users can navigate this innovative landscape without much training.

In this episode, Cam shares his journey from agency work to in-house brand marketing, emphasizing the importance of consistent ad spend, strategic budgeting, and leveraging omnichannel strategies for sustainable growth.
But admits they would not have been able to create a great brand without a great product.
Cam explains: "Everything starts with a product. You can't have a brand without a product. And the one thing we know when our performance is down, it's not the product's fault. It's not the market's fault. It's how we're marketing it."
In this podcast, we cover:
